Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.8 (Partition Coefficient)
Deviations:
no
Remarks:
The study was conducted according to the test guidelines in effect at the time of study conduct.
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
3.88
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
6.53 - 6.77
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient of the test substance was determined to be log P = 3.88 at 20ºC.
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient (n-octanol/water) of the test substance was determined in accordance with EEC Directive 67/548 Annex V, A8 as published in 84/449/EEC. The report includes calibration data, the concentration of the test substance in stock octanol solution, the concentration and total mass of test substance in aqueous and octanol test phases after partition, calculation of partition coefficients, and the mass balance. All of the test substance used can be accounted for. The partition coefficient of the test substance was determined to be log P = 3.88 at 20ºC.
