Conclusion on classification

Based on the 72-hour EC50 of 8.6 mg/L in the short-term algae study, the substance is classified for environmental toxicity as Chronic Category 2, H411 (Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects) according to the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. The original classification was based on a 21-d Daphnia study - a long term study (21-d NOEC = 0.16 mg/L).  The classification should have been based on the algae short term study (72-h EC50 = 8.6 mg/L). THPE is not readily biodegradable. Its log Kow is 3.88 but modelled BCF is between 90 and 168.
