Conclusion on classification

The results from the aquatic toxicity studies are as follows:

Short-term toxicity to fish: Key study: OECD guideline 203 and EU guideline C.1. The 96-Hour LC50 based on nominal test concentrations was 18 mg ai/l with 95% confidence limits of 14 - 24 mg ai/l. The No Observed Effect Concentration was 14 mg ai/l.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates: Key study: OECD guideline 202 and EU guideline C.2. The acute toxicity of the test material to the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna has been investigated and gave a 48-hour EC50 value of 16 mg ai/l with 95% confidence limits of 12-19 mg ai/l. The No Observed Effect Concentration at 48 hours was 4.3 mg ai/l.

Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria: Key study: OECD Guideline 201 and EU Guideline C.3. GLP study. The 72 -h EC50 based on growth rate was 3.4 mg ai/l with 95% confidence limits of 2.7 -4.3 mg ai/l. The No Observed Effect Concentration was 1.1 mg ai/l.

Based on the results from the aquatic toxicity (lowest value between 1 and 10 mg/l) and since the substance is readily biodegradable and has a log Pow below 4, the substance is not classified according to Directive 67/548/EEC and CLP Regulation 1272/2008.
