Description of key information

The acute toxicity of Chlorhexidine digluconate towards bacteria was tested according to the OECD Guideline 209, by determining the inhibition of respiration of activated sludge. As Chlorhexidine base is the active component, the results can be converted to equivalents of CHD-Base.
The EC50 was established to be 14 mg CHD-Base/L.
