In the absence of measured data the PNECsoilwas calculated using the equilibrium partitioning method (EPM). According to the TGD this method uses the PNECaquaticand the sediment/water partitioning coefficient as inputs.
The PNECsoil is then calculated using the equations detailed in the TGD:
PNECsoil = Ksoil-water* PNECaquatic dissolved* 1000 * 1 / RHOsoil
Where: PNECaquatic dissolved = 0.879 µg/L
Ksoil-water = 21000 m3.m-3
RHOsoil = 1700 kg.m-3(TGD, equ. 18)
PNECsoil-EPM =10.8 mg/kg ww
= 12.2 mg/kg dw
Applying the additional safety factor for exposure via ingestion: 10
PNECsoil-EPM = 1.08 mg/kg ww
= 1.22 mg/kg dw
