Description of key information

A well conducted study of structurally similar amides, C8-18 and C18-unsatd., N,N-bis(hydroxyethyl) conducted in Pseudomonas putida (bacteria) resulted in EC10 and EC50 values of 0.83 and 6 g/L respectively. Inhibition of cell growth was observed at 1.0 mg/L. The same data will be used by read across for amides, C12, N, N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
6 g/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
0.83 g/L

Additional information

A study was conducted to assess the toxicity of structurally similar amides, C8 -18 and C18 -unsatd., N,N-bis(hydroxyethyl) toPseudomona putidaaccording to DIN guideline 38412 L8.Pseudomonas putidacolonies, in triplicate, were exposed to the test substance at nominal concentrations of 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.50, 1.00, 2.50, 5.00 and 10.00 g/L. Inhibition of cell growth compared to controls was recorded after 72 hours. The EC10was 0.83 g/L and the EC506.0 g/L. Inhibition of cell growth was observed as of 1.0 g/L.
