Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusions:
Slightly soluble (0.1-100 mg/L)

By extrapolation from published data, ferrocene was found to have a water solubility of ca 7mg/L at 20°C and is therefore slightly soluble in water.( CL ligny, M Alfennaar, MG Van der Veen, Fe Organische Verbindungen, 1968, Rec., Trav., Chim., 87[585/98]

This conclusion that ferrocene is only slightly soluble in water is supported by the EPI Suite calculated value for water solubility of 2.846 mg/l at 25°C

Description of key information

By extrapolation from published data, ferrocene was found to have a water solubility of ca 7mg/L at 20°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
7 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

By extrapolation from published data, ferrocene was found to have a water solubility of ca 7 mg/L at 20°C and is therefore classed as being only slightly soluble in water (CL ligny, M Alfennaar, MG Van der Veen, Fe Organische Verbindungen, 1968, Rec., Trav., Chim., 87[585/98])

This conclusion that ferrocene is only slightly soluble in water is supported by the EPI Suite calculated value for water solubility of 2.846 mg/l at 25°C
