Description of key information

The test substance is acutely harmful to algae.
ErC50 (72h) Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata = 12.5 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
12.5 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
5.49 mg/L

Additional information

An acute toxicity study was conducted with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (BASF SE 2010) according to OECD Guideline 201 using a static design. Nominal exposure concentrations were 0 (control), 3.2, 10, 32, 100, and 320 mg/L. Tests were conducted in closed flasks, completely filled with test medium. Initial cell density was reduced to 0.3E+04 cells/mL due to the closed system. Mean measured concentrations ranged from 23-78 % within this test. Therefore, results were related to measured concentration. The 72-hour ErC50 value for growth rate was determined as 12.5 mg/L, the ErC10 as 5.49 mg/L.
