Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with section 7.14 of Column 2 of Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.
As 2,6-Xylenol is obtained from the production process in its liquid form and thereafter either marketed in its liquid form or dissolved in an organic solvent, a particle size distribution is not considered to be relevant. Under circumstances where the substance solidifies (temperatures below its melting point), 2,6-Xylenol will become a molten mass. As a molten mass is a physical state which contains no inhalable particles and will not produce airborne dust, it is concluded technically not feasible to determine the particle size distribution of solidified 2,6-Xylenol.
