Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.
Dust inhalation: Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Keep under medical surveillance. In case of problems : Hospitalise.
Skin contact: Wash off immediately with plenty of water. If significant contact: Keep under medical surveillance. Hospitalise.
Eye contact: Wash open eyes immediately, abundantly and thoroughly for at least 15 minutes. Consult an ophthalmologist immediately.
Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Hospitalise.
Protection of first-aiders: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Protective suit
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, Dry powder, Foam
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Thermal decomposition giving toxic products:, Ammonia, Carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides, Hydrogen cyanide (hydrocyanic acid)
Advice for firefighters:
Specific methods:
Ensure a system for the rapid emptying of containers. In case of fire nearby, remove exposed containers.
Special protective actions for fire-fighters:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Prohibit contact with skin and eyes and inhalation of dust.
Environmental precautions: Do not release into the environment. Do not let product enter drains.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:
Recovery: Shovel into suitable container for disposal.
Elimination : Destroy the product by incineration (in accordance with local and national regulations).
Handling and storage
Technical measures/Precautions:
Storage and handling precautions applicable to products: Solid. Dust forming. Harmful. Irritant even corrosive. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery and at places where dust can be generated. Provide showers, eye-baths.
Safe handling advice: Avoid creating dust. Keep away from heat, sparks and flames.
Hygiene measures: Prohibit inhalation of dust. Prohibit contact with skin and eyes. When using do not eat, drink or smoke.
Wash hands after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store protected from moisture. Store protected from all ignition sources.
Provide a catch-tank in a bunded area. Provide impermeable floor
Incompatible products:
Store separate from: Strong oxidizing agents Strong acids
Packaging material:
Recommended: Waterproof polyethylene bags
Specific use(s) (End Use):
This substance must be handled under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediates.
