Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General information:
Immediately remove soiled, soaked clothing and dispose in a secure manner.
Remove victim from danger zone. If there is a risk of unconsciousness, position victim in lateral recumbent position. Ensure proper self-protection of the first-aider. Get medical aid immediately. Symptoms of poisoning may develop several hours after exposure.
Skin contact:
Wash affected skin areas immediately with plenty of water. Put on protective clothing. Seek medical aid.
Eye contact:
Rinse eyes immediately with water and well opened eyelids for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses. Consult an ophthalmologist.
Inhalation:
Remove victim from exposure to fresh air. Bring victim into a relaxed position. Apply artificial respiration, if necessary. Get medical aid immediately.
Inhale dexamethasone spray immediately.
Ingestion:
Rinse mouth immediately and drink plenty of water. Avoid vomiting. Get medical aid immediately.
Notes to physician:
Possible signs & symptoms:
Lachrymation (tearing of the eyes), irritation of mucous membranes and skin, respiratory distress, urge to vomit, dry cough.
Possible Hazards:
A pulmonary oedema may occur.
Treatment Information:
Treat symptomatically.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media:
Product is not flammable; use extinguishing media appropriate for surroundings. If possible, do not use water.
For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing media:

Heavy chemical protective clothing with self-contained breathing apparatus.
Special hazards:
In case of fire, the following gases may be released: hydrogen chloride, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide; depending on the fire conditions also phosgene.

Fire residues and contaminated extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Cool containers with water spray, but ensure that no water penetrates into the containers.
Accidental release measures
Personal Precautions:
Use personal protective clothing. Ensure sufficient ventilation. Keep people in distance and stay on the windward side.
Environmental precautions:
Collect contaminated extinguishing water. Dike spill area to prevent spreading. Prevent spilled material from entering surface water and soil. Knock down vapours with water fog.
Cleaning and taking up procedures:
Pump into suitable containers. Take up residues with suitable absorbent material and dispose in accordance with local regulations. Call in a specialist.

Carry out filling processes only with closed systems. Only process in closed systems. Keep away from water or atmospheric moisture. In case of open handling, the use of breathing apparatus is required. Collect vapours at the place of release or source, respectively.

Because the material will neither burn nor explode, use measures appropriate for surroundings
Storage
Storage place and container requirements:
Use glass-lined container. Material is very corrosive to metals and penetrates polyethylene. Therefore, this packaging material is only of limited use.

Do not store with flammable substances. Keep away from water.
Further information on storage requirements:
Keep in a cool place; heat exposure results in pressure increase and danger of bursting. Protect from sun exposure. Protect form exposure to atmospheric moisture and water.

Disposal considerations
Product:
Burn in a specialized furnace.
Contaminated packaging:
Empty packaging completely; carefully wash out with water and lye. Since the product penetrates well into polyethylene, the cleaned packaging cannot be disposed of as usual (smell nuisance); instead it must be separated; burn plastic parts in a specialized furnace, add metal parts to scrap iron.
