Description of key information

No short-term invertebrate test was conducted, because a long-term aquatic toxicity study on invertebrates is available.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

As according to column 2, Annex VII of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 a short-term invertebrate test does not need to be conducted if a long-term aquatic toxicity study on invertebrates is available. The long-term invertebrate test showed a 48 h EL50 > 100 mg/L for the mortality of adult Daphnia magna exposed to water accommodated fractions of oil shale, thermal processing waste, which indicate no harmful acute toxic effect of burnt oil shale to aquatic invertebrates.
