Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

An OECD TG 201 guideline study in compliance with GLP criteria with freshwater alga Selenastrum capricornutum is available for the test substance. Algae were exposed to nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 6.5, 13, 25, 50, and 100 mg/L under static conditions for 72 hours. Initial measured concentrations of the test substance were: ND, 5.95, 11.9, 22.9, 45.7, and 98.4 mg/L (91 - 98% of nominal). Measured concentrations for samples collected at the end of the definitive test were control not analysed, 2.00, 4.17, 11.0, 32.5, and 74.4 mg/L (31 - 74% of nominal). Initial measured concentrations were used for all calculations.

Exposure of algae to the test substance for 72 hours resulted in a EC50 of 25.4 mg/L when calculated using the average specific growth rate, 13.7 mg/L when calculated using the number of cells/mL, and 13.8 mg/L when calculated using the area under the growth curve. The 72 hour NOEC is 5.95 mg/L when determined using the number of cells/mL, the average specific growth rate, and the area under the growth curve.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
25.4 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
5.95 mg/L
