Endpoint conclusion:
adverse effect observed (corrosive)

Additional information

Skin irritation/corrosion studies indicate that cyclohexylamine has corrosive properties. In one study undiluted test substance was applied to the back of rabbits for 1, 5 min and 20 hours and the animals were observed for up to 8 days after exposure. Necrosis (observed at 24 h and 8 days) was reported after 1 min exposure and marked necrosis after 5 min. After 20 h exposure marked necrosis rounded by significant erythema was observed (BASF 1970). Additional studies mentioned in the IUCLID dossier support that cyclohexylamine has corrosive properties.

Single application of undiluted testsubstance into the conjunctival sac of one rabbits indicated that cyclohexylamine was corrosive to the mucouse membraines, caused hemorrhage and severe not reverible lesions (BASF 1970).

Effects on skin irritation/corrosion: corrosive
