Additional information

Multiple studies demonstrate isodecanol and related alcohols have no genotoxic or mutagenic potential as demonstrated in in vitro studies. Test results for a member of the Exxal alcohol group as defined in the read across justificaiton and ITS assessment report in Chapter 13 of the dossier exists for CAS number 93821 -11 -5. This is the previous CAS number for the Alcohols C9 -C11 -iso, C10 rich: isodecanol (Exxal 10) before harmonization of the CAS numbers. CAS number 68526 -85 -2 and 93821 -11 -5 refer to the same substance (i.e. Exxal 10). Test results for Exxal 13 (CAS number 68526 -86 -3) also exist.

Short description of key information:
No indications of genotoxicity or mutagenicity.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

No classification for genetic toxicity is indicated according to the general classification and labeling requirements for dangerous substances and preparations (Directive 67-548-EEC) or the classification, labeling and packaging (CLP) regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
