Additional information

The toxicity of morpholine to aquatic freshwater algae was tested according to the OECD 201 by NITE (1997) under GLP. The test species was Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. The test concentrations were analytically verified. Based on the data from the original study report, the study results were statistically re-evaluated using ToxRat Professional v3.2.1 (BASF SE, 2017)  in order to obtain effect values for growth rate based on curent standard methods and in order to check the current validity criteria. The study meets the validity criteria of OECD 201. The 72-h EC50 for growth rate was 64.6 mg/L (nominal). The 72-h EC10 for growth rate was 31. 5 mg/L.

It can be concluded that morpholine is acutely harmful to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria.
