Description of key information
In total, 48 reliable EC10 or NOEC values for chronic zinc toxicity to terrestrial invertebrates except arthropods were identified. The data cover Zn toxicity to reproduction of 7 different species (Aporrectodea caliginosa, Eisenia andrei, Eisenia fetida, Enchytraeus albidus, Enchytraeus doerjesi, Lumbricus rubellus and Lumbricus terrestris). NOEC and EC10 values vary between 32 mg Zn/kg dw for reproduction of Enchytraeus doerjesi (Voua Otomo et al., 2012) and 1425 mg Zn/kg dw for mortality of Aporrectodea caliginosa (Qiu et al., 2011). All NOEC and EC10 values are expressed based on total elemental Zn concentrations in soil. All reliable NOEC and EC10 values were taken forward to the derivation of the PNEC according to the statistical extrapolation approach.
