Description of key information

A rodent carcinogenicity study for Vinyl 2-ethylhexanoate is not needed as established by the criteria set out in REACH Annex X, Column 2.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Justification for classification or non-classification

Vinyl 2 -ethylhexanoate dose not meet the criteria for Classification and Labeling as a Carcinogen as established by EU Directive 67/548/EEC and the CLP.

Additional information

Vinyl 2 -ethylhexanoate is not genotoxic in four in vitro assays and in one in vivo rat study for DNA and chromosome damage. Therefore, the criteria for a Category 3 mutagen are not met. Vinyl 2 -ethylhexanoate is manufactured under closed conditions with little or no environmental release or worker or consumer exposure. In repeated-dose rodent studies Vinyl 2 -ethylhexanoate did not induce human health relevant histopathology.
