no
Type of method:
ring method
Surface tension:
57.3 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
0.072 g/L
Remarks on result:
other: Due to the fact that the surface tension is lower than 60 mN/m, the test item has surface-active properties.
Conclusions:
The surface tension of the aqueous solution of the test item, stearic acid, cobalt salt, at 20 °C is sigma = 57.3 mN/m. Due to the fact that the surface tension is lower than 60 mN/m, the test item has surface-active properties.

Description of key information

Surface tension of stearic acid, cobalt salt (guideline study results): 57.3 mN/m at 20 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
57.3
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:

Additional information

The surface tension of stearic acid, cobalt salt was determined according to OECD guideline 115, ring method. Six measurements at a temperature of 20 +/- 0.5 °C were performed every minute with the test item. Under the described conditions the aqueous solution of the test item, stearic acid, cobalt salt, is sigma = 57.3 mN/m. In conclusion, the test item has weak surface active properties.
