Description of key information

In accordance with section 1.1 of Annex XI of the REACH regulation, the self-ignition temperature study required under information point 7.12 of Annex VII of the same regulation, can be waived if it is scientifically unjustified based on exisiting data.

Inorganic oxides in which the inorganic element is in its highest possible oxidation state are incapable of further reaction with oxygen and can thus be designated as non-flammable.

Additional information

Ditantalum pentaoxide is an inorganic oxide in which the inorganic element, Tantalum, is in its highest possible oxidation state, +5. Therefore, it has been deemed scientifically unjustified to conduct the self-ignition temperature study listed under standard information requirement 7.12.
