Description of key information

Freshwater invertebrates:
As a rough estimate a NOEC/LOEC of 3.8/8.1 mg/L can be applied for magnesium acrylate for the survival in the 21 -day Daphnia magna chronic toxicity study based on the 21-day Daphnia magna chronic toxicity study with acrylic acid (see justification for read-across in the attached read across document to the Chemical Safety Report). This value is supported by a NOEC of 7 mg/L for maternal toxicity in a separate 21-day D. magna reproduction test with acrylic acid. Taking into account the molecular weight of magnesium and the lower acute toxicity of magnesium acrylate towards Daphnids the 21 d NOEC would be > 8 mg/l for magnesium acrylate, which corresponds to > 16 mg/l aqueous solution with 48% magnesium acrylate.
