Additional information

Biodegradation of the test item was determined using 3 studies that permit the screening for ready biodegradability. In the key study (1984), the determination of the ready biodegradability of the test item was assessed over a 28 day period by the modified Sturm test (OECD 301B). The nominal test concentrations were 10 and 20 mg a.s./L. The test material attained up to 12 and 13 % biodegradation after 28 days whereas the positive control substance (Aniline) was 101 % degraded 28 days. These results indicate that the test item cannot be classified readily biodegradable under conditions of the test.

This is supported by two different studies: In a supporting study on biodegradation (1989), the biodegradability was determined to be 16 %.

Additionally, the test item was investigated for its ready biodegradability in a manometric respirometry test according to the OECD301F over a period of 28 days (2005). After 28 d only 13 - 14 % biodegradation has been observed.

Therefore, in overall conclusion, the test item is not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria
