Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Description of key information

In a static acute toxicity study, young Daphnia magna individuals (< 24 h old) were exposed to the test item for 48 hours. A nominal concentration of 1 mg/L WAF (Water accommodated Fraction) was applied as a limit test. The 48–hr EC50 was estimated to be higher than 1.0 mg/L WAF.

One reliable studies on short-term toxicity on aquatic invertebrates is available. In the key study (2005) Daphnia magna were exposed to the test item for 48 h under static conditions. A nominal concnetration of 1 mg/L WAF (water accommodated Fraction) was applied as a limit test. The EC50 of Daphnia magna during 48 h exposure was higher than 1 mg/L WAF, indicating a low toxicity of the test organisms to the test item.

However, the EC50-value of 1 mg/L was used as worst case consideration for the environmental risk assessment.

A second unreliable study is available. Due to the exposure duration of 24 h and the high amount of emulsifier used within the study, the study is disregarded.
