No effects up to the limit of water solubility (WS < 0.05 mg/L in aqua dest., ISO 7346-1).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One experimental study investigating the short-term effects of isononanoic acid, C16-18 alkyl esters (CAS 111937-03-2) to fish is available (Gode, 2009). The study was performed according to ISO 7346-1 (non-GLP) as a limit test with a test substance concentration of nominal 10000 mg/L. No filtration step was included after direct addition of the test substance and un-dissolved material was visible in the exposure tanks. Nevertheless, no effects were observed by the dissolved and un-dissolved test substance resulting in a LC50 > 10000 mg/L after 96 h. No control was included in this study but it is not necessarily needed since no mortality was observed in the treatment. Based on this result it can be concluded that no toxicological short-term effects on fish are expected up to the limit of water solubility for isononanoic acid, C16-18 alkyl esters.
