One experimental study investigating the long-term toxicity of isononanoic acid, C16-18 alkyl esters (CAS 111937-03-2) to aquatic invertebrates is available (Salinas, 2013). The study was performed according to OECD 211 under GLP conditions with the water flea Daphnia magna. A water accommodated fraction (WAF) of nominal 10 mg/L was tested as a limit test. The nominal concentrations could not be measured analytically since no suitable analytical method could be established. No effects on reproduction of Daphnia magna were observed after 21 d resulting in a NOELR ≥ 10 mg/L. Based on this result it can be concluded that no chronic effects on aquatic invertebrates are expected up to the limit of water solubility for isononanoic acid, C16-18 alkyl esters.
