Reaction mass containing mainly 2-chloropropene was tested in vitro in a bacterial reverse mutation assay (Ames test-with and without metabolic activation).
Based on the results of this study it is concluded that Reaction mass containing mainly 2-chloropropene is mutagenic in some strains of the Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay and is not mutagenic in the Escherichia coli reverse mutation assay. The mutagenicity was confined only to incubations with metabolic activation.

Due to the inconclusive results obtained in vitro, the reaction mass containing mainly 2-chloropropene should not be classified according to CLP/DSD legislation.
