No parent or metabolite was detected in any of the trial site control samples at the start and end of the study

Both Diuron and the metabolite Desmethyl-diuron remained in the top 0 to 10 cm layer of the soil cores throughout the course of the experimental period. Only few and low concentrations were found in deeper soil layers indicating the immobility of both substances

Dissipation proceeded moderately and continuously with time. The decline of Diuron in the single trials fits well with the calculated degradation curves except for the trial in Massen in which Diuron residues did not follow a continuous decline pattern but produced highly variable results

Half life values were determined following a first order fit to range between 59 and 298 days (n=5), DT90values were extrapolated for 3 locations and ranged from 197 to 265 days (n=3)

In the soil type tested, Diuron showed a slow to moderate dissipation under natural field conditions and is not prone to move down the soil column
