Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
206 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
137.4 mg/L

Additional information

For the evaluation of the toxity of DMCHA, Pseudomonas putida were exposed to the test item over a period of 17h following the german standard method DIN 38412-8. The following nominal concentrations were used: 3.91, 7.81, 15.63, 31.25, 62.5, 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000 mg/L. The results of the study were based on absorbance at 436 nm. Based on nominal exposure concentrations the EC50 was calculated to be 206 mg/L, the corresponding EC10 was 137.4 mg/L and the EC100 was 402.2 mg/L (BASF AG, 1987).

Based on these results, the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
