Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

1,2-Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, 4-methyl- (4-MHHPAc)

Half-life for reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals: 30.1 hours.

Overall degradation rate constant with OH radicals= 1.10E-6 cm3/(molecule-day)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
30.1 h
Degradation rate constant with OH radicals:
0 cm³ molecule-1 s-1

Additional information

In the presence of moisture, hexahydro-4-methylphthalic anhydride is rapidly hydrolysed to 1,2-Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, 4-methyl-, that is most relevant to various environmental compartments than the submission substance.

The stability of the substance in the atmosphere was calculated using the software AOPWIN (v1.92). It is predicted that the acid will be degraded in the atmosphere by reaction with photochemically-produced hydroxyl radicals, with a half-life of 30.1 hours, and overall degradation rate constants with OH radicals of 1.10E-06 cm3/(molecule-day).
