Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
- Skin Contact: Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. After contact with skin , wash immediately with plenty of water. May cause delayed burns. Seek medical advice.
- Eye contact: In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenly of water and seek medical advice. Consult an ophtalmotogist.
- Inhalation: Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing , give artificial respiration, preferably mouth to mouth. Seek medical advice.
- Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Seek medical advice.
- Emergency Equipment: Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the work station location .
Fire-fighting measures
- Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: -
- Exposure Hazards: High temperatures may liberale toxic or corrosive gases . Do not breathe smoke or vapours.
- Protective equipment and precaution for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
Accidental release measures
Environmental PrecautIons: Knock down vapour cloud with spray of water or other appropriate solution. Contain any spilt with dikes or absorbents to prevent migration and entry into sewers or streams. May require excavation of contaminated soil. Do not discharge into drains or the environment.
Methods for Clean-up: Cover with dry sodium carbonate. Residue maybe washed down with water. Shovel up residues and place in a labelled sealable container for subsequent safe disposal. Put leaking container into a labelled drum or overdrum.
Handling and storage
- Storage: Keep in a dry, coot and well ventillated place. Local exhaust is needed at source of vapours. Equipment should be grounded. Mechanical ventilation is recommended . Keep at temperatures below 40°C.
