Description of key information

Flammability: Key study: Magnesium Acetate can be classified as not flammable (according to EEC-Guideline A.10 and GLP compliance).
Pyrophoric properties: Based on experience on handling and use, the substance is stable and does not spontaneously ignite when exposed to air.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

non flammable

Additional information

Key study: Experimental results: Test method according to EEC-Guideline A.10.

The test item was formed to an uninterrupted pile of 250 mm in length on a ceran plate. It was tried to ignite the substance-pile at one end with the flame of a tecluburner. There was no inflammation or smouldering observed within 2 minutes. Because it was impossible to ignite the test item the main test had not to be performed.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item Magnesium Acetate can be classified as not flammable.
