- Basis for effect:
- inhibition of total respiration
- Remarks:
- respiration rate
- Details on results:
- No inhibition was produced by Tween 80 (100 mg/l = max. concentration) in relation to the untreated controls.
- Results with reference substance (positive control):
- - Results with reference substance valid? yes
- Relevant effect levels: 47 % inhibition at 60 mg/L - Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- EC50 (3 h) = 470 mg/L: The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
- Executive summary:
The effect of 3,5,5 -trimethylhexanoic acid on domestic activated sludge was tested in a respiration inhibition test with a duration of 3 h according to OECD 209. The EC50 (3 h) is 470 mg/L, the EC10/NOEC (3 h) corresponds to 230 mg/L. Inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriately low concentrations.
Reference
At 200 mg/l and lower, the inhibition was up
to 11 %; at 1000 mg/l, inhibition of respiration was > 90 %.
No inhibition was produced by the solvent Tween 80
(100 mg/l = max. concentration).
