Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The registered substance is a salt composed of a primary alkyl amine and a fatty acid that are readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The registered substance is a salt composed of a primary alkyl amine and a fatty acid that are readily biodegradable.

Indeed, based on the available studies on biodegradation of the primary alkyl amine (hydrogenated C16 -18), this substance is estimated to be readily biodegradable, fulfilling the 10 -days-window criterion. Concerning the stearic acid, the use of a QSAR shows that this fatty acid can be considered as readily biodegradable.
