Additional information

Potassium tert-butanolate hydrolyses in water to form inorganic potassium hydroxide and tert-butanol. For the organic hydrolysis product a toxicity study with Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata conducted according to OECD guideline 201 is available (NITE, 2009). In this study an ErC50 of > 110 mg/L (measured) after 72 hours of exposure was determined. For potassium hydroxide no data are available since the substance completely dissociates in water and effects are related to a shift in pH values only.
