Description of key information

In contact with water the substance will hydrolyse slowly.

According to Harris (1990) the structure of the test substance does not contain any functional groups sensitive to hydrolysis. In addition, the hydrolysis rate of retinyl palmitate was calculated using SRC HYDROWIN v1.67. The results showed at pH 7 and pH 8 a half-life of 2.7 years and 98.2 days, respectively. Therefore, in contact with water the test substance will hydrolyse slowly.
