Additional information

TBSI has a very low solubility (1.75 µg/L), a relatively high Kow (log Kow = 6.7) and a relatively high affinity for soil and sediment (log Koc = 4.61). Due to the very low solubility a hydrolysis study was performed with a structural analog that showed rapid hydrolysis (t1/2 ca 8 hrs), which is also considered valid for TBSI. Because of this high hydrolysis rate the bio-concentration factor was based on the hydrolysis products. With a highest bio-accumulation factor of 9 for the most critical hydrolysis product TBSI is not considered bio-accumulative. The biodegradation rate is low, with no measured biodegradation in a standardised 28 day test procedure.
