Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A long term study was conducted with MBT, the main break down product of TBSI. There is no significant difference between the 0.160 mg/L (the highest tested concentration) and control at 21 days of exposure (end of the test period).

Additional information

TBSI is assumed to rapidly break down to MBT and t-butylamine. Therefore the long term toxicity study with aquatic invertebrates was conducted with MBT. Given the presumed high breakdown rate of TBSI, the results obtained with MBT are considered to be representative for long-term effects of TBSI.

It showed that after 21 days of exposure, at the highest tested concentration (0.160 mg/L) results were not statistically different from the control. Therefore the 21 -day NOEC > 0.160 mg/L.
