Description of key information

- Key information: Experimentally determined vapour pressure of the test item at 20 °C of 2.4*E-6mbar was not in the recommended range of 1 to 1000 mbar for DSC-measurements. Therefore, the Grain Watson estimation based on the lowest possible boiling temperature (according to the definition in the EEC-directive 92/69/EEC, method A.4.) was performed:
vapour pressure (at 20°C) ≤ 5.8*E-3 Pa.
- Supporting information: vapour pressure (at 25 °C) = 1.89E-05 Pa (Modified Grain Method) [MPBPWIN 1.43; calculated data].

Additional information

The vapour pressure of the test item was determined by means of Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) according to the test method A.4. "Vapour Pressure according to the Dynamic Method". However, the experimentally determined vapour pressure of the test item at 20 °C of 2.4*E-6 mbar is not in the recommended range of 1 to 1000 mbar for DSC-measurements. Therefore an estimation procedure according to the test method A.4 "Vapour Pressure according to the Dynamic Method" as described in the Official Journal of the European Communities L383A, Appendix 1, Estimation Method, newest version (Robert S. Boethling, Donald Mackay, Handbook of Property Estimation Methods for Chemicals, Lewis Publishers, year of publication 2000, Cap. 3 -Vapour Pressure, Grain-Watson Method, p. 53 - 65) was used. This method is applied for vapour pressures between 103 to 10-7mbar. This deviates from the older version published in the test method A.4 "Vapour Pressure according to the Dynamic Method". It was used due to the differentiation between solids and liquids, which results in a more precise estimate. Following this, the test item has a vapour pressure of ≤ 5.8*E-8 atm ( ≤ 5.8*E-3 Pa; ≤ 5.8*E-5 mbar) at 20 °C according to the definition in the EEC-directive 92/69/EEC, method A.4. (Grain Watson estimation; calculation based on the lowest possible boiling temperature).

Moreover, the estimation of vapour pressure was done by the MPBPWIN program (v 1.44).The calculation is done by three different methods: Antoine, Modified Grain and Mackay, where by the Modified Grain method is preferentially utilized. By taking this method into account the substance bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)carbodiimide) has a vapour pressure of 1.89 x 10-5Pa at 25 °C.
