Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No toxic effects up to the limit of water solubility (< 0.02 mg/L) for Danio rerio (OECD 203)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One GLP Guideline study according to OECD 203 is available investigating the short-term toxicity of tetradecyl myristate (CAS 3234-85-3) to freshwater fish (Teigeler, 2012). The zebra fish Danio rerio was exposed for 96 h to a limit Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) concentration of nominal 100 mg/L.GC/EI-MS analysis resulted in a measured initial concentration of 0.189 µg/L which dropped below the detection limit of 0.1 µg/L at the end of exposure after 96 h. No mortality was observed resulting in a LL50 of > 0.189 µg/L (measured initial concentration) and > 100 mg/L (nominal), respectively. Based on this result it can be concluded that no toxicological short-term effects on fish are expected up to the limit of water solubility for tetradecyl myristate.
