L-arginine showed 100% degradation (HPLC) after 28 days in a study according to OECD 301C and therefore can be considered as readily biodegradable. Supporting studies also indicate that L-arginine is readily biodegradable.

In accordance with Annex IX sections 9.2.1.2 column 2 and section 9.2.1.4 column 2 simulation tests on the biodegradation in surface water or sediment are not necessary, because L-arginine is readily biodegradable.

In accordance with Annex IX section 9.2.1.3 column 2 simulation tests on the biodegradation in soil are not necessary, because L-arginine is readily biodegradable.
