Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media:
Foam.
Extinguishing powder.
Carbon dioxide (CO2).

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:
Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
in case of fire, the following products may be formed: Carbon monoxide; carbon dioxide. Burning produces heavy smoke.
Do not inhale explosion and combustion gases.

Advice for firefighters
Fire-fighters should wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and personal protective equipments, such as jacket
(standard: EN469), helmet (standard: EN443), gloves (standard: EN407), boots (standard: EN345-S3 HI WRU HRO).
Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.
Move undamaged containers from immediate hazard area if it can be done safely.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Wear personal protection equipment.
Remove persons to safety.

Environmental precautions
Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.
Retain contaminated washing water and dispose it.
In case of gas escape or of entry into waterways, soil or drains, inform the responsible authorities.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Suitable material for taking up: absorb with inert, absorbent material.
In case of heavy spills: wash with plenty of water.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Avoid contact with skin and eyes, inhaltion of vapours and mists.
Exercise the greatest care when handling or opening the container.
Don't use empty container before they have been cleaned.
Before making transfer operations, assure that there aren't any incompatible material residuals in the containers.
Contamined clothing should be changed before entering eating areas.
Do not eat or drink or smoke while working.

Incompatible materials:
Oxidizers

Instructions as regards storage premises:
Adequately ventilated premises.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls
Technical measures and appropriate working operations should be given priority over the use of personal protective equipment.
General industrial hygiene practice: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe vapours or spray mist. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.
Hygiene measures: When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Take off all contaminated clothing immediately. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.
Personal protective equipment selections vary based on potential exposure conditions such as applications, handling practices, concentration and ventilation. Information on the selection of protective equipment for use with this material, as provided below, is based upon intended, normal usage.
Eye protection:
Eye glasses with side protection (EN166).
Protection for skin:
Use clothing that provides comprehensive protection to the skin, e.g. cotton, rubber, PVC or viton.
Protection for hands:
Butyl rubber .
Any specific glove information provided is based on published literature and glove manufacturer data. Glove suitability and breakthrough time will differ depending on the specific use conditions. Contact the glove manufacturer for specific advice on glove selection and breakthrough times for your use conditions. Inspect and replace worn or damaged gloves.
Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.
Respiratory protection:
Particle filter P2.
Particle filter P3.
The use of breathing apparatus must strictly comply with the manufacturer's instructions and regulations that govern the selection and use (EN 529).
Hygienic and Technical measures
Adequate ventilation should be provided so that exposure limits are not exceeded. Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. Keep away from food and drink. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Always observe good personal hygiene measures, such as washing after handling the material and before eating, drinking, and/or smoking.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods
Disposal recommendations based on material as supplied. Disposal must be in accordance with current applicable laws and regulations, and material characteristics at time of disposal.
It is the responsibility of the waste generator to determine the toxicity and physical properties of the material generated to determine the proper waste identification and disposal methods.
Empty Container Warning (where applicable): Empty containers may contain residue and can be dangerous. Do not attempt to refill or clean containers without proper instructions. Empty drums should be completely drained and safely stored until appropriately reconditioned or disposed. Empty containers should be taken for recycling, recovery, or disposal through suitably qualified or licensed contractor and in accordance with governmental regulations.
DO NOT DUMP INTO ANY SEWERS, ON THE GROUND, OR INTO ANY BODY OF WATER.
