Description of key information

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII, 9.2.2.1, column 2, a hydrolysis study does not need to be conducted if the substance is highly insoluble in water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Hydrolysis does not contribute to the abiotic degradation of Fatty acids, C18-unsaturated, dimers, hydrogenated (CAS No. 68783-41-5). In general, fatty acids have no hydrolysable groups and are therefore not susceptible to hydrolysis. This holds also true for the members of the dimerised fatty acid category. Considering further that all sub-category 2 members have a low water solubility (< 0.52 mg/L), they are expected to be stable in water under environmental conditions. Thus, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VIII, 9.2.2.1, column 2, a hydrolysis study does not need to be conducted.
