Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH (Regulation 1907/2006/EC) Annex VIII, a test for hydrolysis as a function of pH does not need to be conducted as the substance is not considered to be persistent.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

1 -methylpiperazine is not considered to be persistent and does not contain hydrolysable covalent bonds. Degradation of these 1 -methylpiperazine through hydrolysis is therefore not considered.

According the EU risk assessment report from Piperazine (CAS no 110 -85 -0) no hydrolytic degradation was observed in sterile controls or under highly acidic or alkaline conditions.

In the absence of standard data on hydrolytical degradation, the conservative assumption that 1 -methyl piperazine is hydrolytically stable will be used in the risk assessment.
