Description of key information

Flammability: flash point of 41 - 70°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The flammability study is not required for liquids as flammability is assessed on the basis of flash point (see IUCLID Section 4.11).

There is no indication on the basis of structure and experience in handling and use that the substance is pyrophoric (flammable in contact with air) or flammable in contact with water.

Therefore, in accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI, there is no need to conduct further flammability testing.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Reliable flash points of 41, 57, 57.5, 67 and 70°C have been recorded; the boiling point is 185°C.

The flash point of 41, 46, 57 and 57.5°C indicates the following classifications:

Classification and Labelling according to Regulation 1272/2008:Flam. Liq. 3, H226: Flammable Liquid and Vapour according to Regulation 1272/2008

The flash points of 67 and 70°C indicate that the substance should not be classified for flammability.
