Description of key information

A test on flammability is technically not possible, as the test substance is a liquid. For liquids, the primary value for ease of ignition is the flash point (IUCLID section 4.11).
Based on experience in production or handling, 2 -chlorotoluene has no pyrophoric properties (Currenta, 2010).
Based on the structural formula, 2 -chlorotoluene does not emit flammable gases on contact with water (Currenta, 2010).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the flash point of 43 °C, 2 -chlorotoluene has to be scored as flammable.

Based on experience in production or handling, 2 -chlorotoluene has no pyrophoric properties.

Based on the structural formula, 2 -chlorotoluene does not emit flammable gased on contact with water.
