Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The adsorption of 2-chlorotoluene to soil was determined similar / equivalent to OECD TG 106 (batch equilibrium method; Banerjee et al., 1985) as the geometric mean Koc over 19 soil samples of differential depth (0-675 cm) at a geometric mean TOC concentration of 0.2 %. Adsorption was well correlated with the TOC of soil samples. A log Koc of 2.54 had been determined, characterizing the the substance as medium mobile in soil (log Koc 2.18 to 2.70) according to the classification scheme for mobility in soil by McCall et al. (1981; six mobility classes, ranging from very high mobility to immobile).
Henry's law constant at 20 °C for 2-chlorotoluene was calculated from the experimentally determined vapour pressure (382.4 Pa at 20 °C) and water solubility (62 mg/L at 20 °C) to be 780.7 Pa*m³/mol (Currenta, 2009). According to Thomas, cited in the "Handbook of Chemical property Estimation Methods" (Lyman, 1980), the substance tends to volatilize rapidly from the liquid phase.
The distribution of 2-chlorotoluene in a "unit world" was calculated according to the Mackay fugacity model level I (Currenta, 2008) assuming air as target compartment receiving 99.7 % of the test item, followed by water (0.2 %), soil (0.05 %) and sediment (0.05 %).
