Description of key information

The toxicity of 1-chloro-2-methylbenzene towards aquatic algae is characterized by an EC50(72 h) of 7.8 mg/L, and NOEC(72 h) of 2.6 mg/L (NITE 2000).

Additional information

Kühn (1990) formely was a SISDs critical endpoint. However, they did not observe effects up to a concentration of 100 mg/L possibly caused by the volatilisation of the test item. Therefore, NITE (2000) was chosen as key study despite missing information on the analytical confirmation of concentrations. Within that study the lowest effective concentration was observed and studies performed by NITE are scored as reliable according to the Guidance Document R.7b (ECHA, 2008).
