Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the bioaccumulation in

aquatic species study does not need to be conducted as direct or indirect exposure of the aquatic compartment is unlikely. Additionally, systemic bioavailability of the substance is not expected due to the present toxicological study results as no systemic toxicity could be observed. Further the substance is an UVCB and the single constituents of the registered substance have a high molecular weight and are structurally very branched molecules indicating a low potential for crossing biological membranes and as a conclusion the potential for bioaccumulation is reduced. The smallest constituent is the trimer having a molecular weight of 792.99 g/mol and displays ca. 60 % of the substance. The other constituents are significantly larger (pentamerous (ca. 20 %), the heptamerous (ca. 11 %) and the oligomers with n >=9 (ca. 10 %)) and have therefore even higher molecular weights.
To summarize, the substance is not entering into the environment, is not expected to be bioavailable and due to the large size and the molecular weight of the single constituents the potential for crossing biological membranes is reduced. As a conclusion, there is no potential for bioaccumulation of the substance and therefore a study for bioaccumulation is overestimated and considering animal welfare not justified.
