The substance was tested on Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata according to OECD 201 with no effect up to 100 mg/l at 72 h.

The remaining test presented as Supporting Study was performed on the analogous dihydroxyethyl derivative tetrasulphonated sodium salt, CAS 16470-24-9. The diethylamino substituent is less polar, less reactive and makes the molecule slightly less soluble compared to the dihydroxyethylamino derivative. The latter can therefore considered as a representative conservative analogous for the aquatic toxicity because of the higher bioavailability and higher reactivity with organic substrates. The category Justification Report is attached in section 13.

Acute toxicity for Green algae (Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata) was evaluated in the 72 hours screening reliable test, according to the OECD guideline 201 on the di and tetrasulphonated representative.

No aquatic algae toxicity is expected for the substance under registration and an EC50 of 100 has been selected as a representative value.
