Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The Pocket Guide presents key information and data from the US Department of Health and Human Services and as such is a reliable governmental source of information and is considered a suitable key study source for this endpoint (NIOSH 2005). This is supported by data from ECETOC (1991) which also indicates that DCPD is a solid.

The state of commercial DCPD was taken from proprietary data. There is no information on the GLP status of the study or the methods used but the results are taken from company specific pro-forma and are considered to be suitable for use for this endpoint.

DCPD resin grade and UPR grade are both liquid at room temperature and have a vapour pressure of approximately 4.8 kPa. High purity DCPD is a waxy solid at room temperature with negligible dust generation and with a vapour pressure of 0.2-0.3 kPa. Based on the vapour pressure of the different DCPD grades it is likely that the higher exposure of the workers would be due to the liquid form of the substance. Therefore, an exposure assessment based on the liquid form should be protective of the worker using the solid form. This applies to inhalation and dermal exposures at the workplace.
